Ignorance Isn’t Bliss

This conversation starts with two simple, objective facts: (1) the human species is evolving and (2) disruptive technologies are emerging.
Period.
That’s it, those are the facts.
Where things get steeped in nuance and shrouded in uncertainty is when we start speculating about what our collective future looks like and start considering the urgent and crucial issues that are confronting us.
Making things even MORE imponderable is the fact that there isn’t a single human being alive that has ever encountered the challenges we will be facing over the coming decades as we merge with artificial intelligence and continue to integrate and develop new technologies. We are tip-toeing on the precipice of massive evolutionary change with no examples from the past to glean insight from.
Traditionally, evolution has been determined through natural processes and adaptive changes to environmental stimuli…but never before in the knowable history of human existence have we ever had the technology and power to engineer and shape life like we do today. With the world of technology, biometric monitoring, AI, quantum computing, chip advancements, algorithms and big data bearing down on us, we can’t really afford to meander around flippant and aimless.
Humanity is quickly starting to approach the tipping point and AI is going to be growing exponentially over the next 5, 10, 20 years. The genie is out of the bottle now and while you don’t have to actively participate in the discussion and decision-making process, that doesn’t mean you will be exempt from the consequences of such decisions.
And the clock is ticking. If we don’t choose what route to go down, then we’re going to be told what route we’re going down. It’s really that simple.

It's stuff straight from a Hollywood movie but IT’S ALL ALREADY HERE, and even though much of this technology stems from virtuous, altrusitic and rather benign roots, humanity doesn't exactly have a great track record of using toys responsibly and playing well with others. As Yuval Noah Harari put it, "Humans were always far better at inventing tools than using them wisely."
Nuclear energy, anyone?
When we’re absent from the conversations that have a direct impact on our lives - or not participating at all because we’re distracted by the Roman Circus of entertainment, sports and political theatre - we run the risk of having our world shaped FOR us, not BY us…and it’s not just a combination of nature and technology deciding our fate, it’s also other fallable humans - with their own moral deficiencies, ethical limitations and personal motivations.
Whoever usurps control of the resources and technology at this critical juncture of evolution has unfathomable power to guide us in any direction they see fit, and we have reasonable grounds to be wary of this pending scenario.
It’s important to note that this isn’t some conspiracy theory about some esoteric cult of evil villains. It’s not like they’re hiding away in some isolated bunker scheming and plotting. No no no, they're much more cunning and brazen than that. They meet right in the open, at conferences and summits all over the world. They write books. They have websites. They give interviews and issue press releases. They literally disclose what is going on, what types of initiatives they’re launching and what projects they’re focusing resources on.
It’s not a secret, we're just too distracted, apathetic and disconnected to pay attention. All we have to do is look, but we never do...and they know it, which is why they have no problem subjugating our entire species in broad daylight, unrepentant and depraved.
So who are “they”?
First I'll tell you who they aren't.
They aren't the dedicated oncologists carefully tinkering with DNA trying to cure pancreatic cancer. They aren't the quantum physicists trying to circumvent the laws of gravity. They aren't the environmental researcher compiling and arranging data trying to discover groundbreaking solutions to real world problems. They aren't the worker bees.
The "they" I'm speaking about are the overlords, the 1%, the oligarchs...the ones who exploit the passion, labour, ingenuity and discoveries of the worker bees. It's a tale as old as time.
These guys are the REAL decision-makers, bearing the exclusive title as THEE richest and most powerful, influential members of our species. They wear suits and have assistants. They’re bankers and politicians, tech CEO’s and heads of state. They’re cabinet ministers, industrial tycoons, lawyers and consultants. Media magnates and lobbyists. Royal family members and aristocrats. They control an absurdly disproportionate amount of our resources - from the flow of money, food and information to the export of energy and raw materials - and are the largest benefactors of trickle down economics that just never seem to trickle down.
"They" are commonly referred to as the "elites" of society although I'm almost positive that's a title they generously bestowed upon themselves (😂). It certainly isn't an accurate descriptor of the state of their personal character and moral fabric.
There's somewhere between 30-50 million of these folks globally - some with larger public profiles than others - and they're not all completely incorrigible. They also don’t unanimously agree ideologically and all have their own cultures, belief systems and ambitions…but they are all brought together by loosely aligned interests driven by the same objectives; money, power and the desire to shape the world in a way that accumulates both.
I, like every other human being on this planet, have no idea where this ends up or what the world will look like in 2050…but there are plenty of books out there written by the very same people who possess this immense power and wealth to push us one way or another. If you read some of their books or watch some of their interviews they’ll paint you some very clear pictures about where they’re looking to take us, although they themselves admit that they don’t know how it’ll turn out. Perhaps that’s the scariest part.
Until then, clean your body and your brain, and get as healthy as you can spiritually, mentally and physically. Start paying attention and begin taking the time to get to know yourself. The real You.

Disclaimer: I’m just a guy sharing ideas. I’m not left wing and I’m not right wing. Let’s just meet in the middle as humans first and start from there. Cool? Cool. I also know that I don’t always have aaaallll the information at hand when it comes to eeeeeevery topic out there, so my ideas or opinions may be altered slightly or change completely over time as I learn more about something…that’s how it should work though, new information = new analysis…that’s literally the scientific method in a nutshell. I don't have all the answers but just know that my heart and my intentions are pure.
